The Biochemical/dietary evidence for the Aquatic Ape Hypothesis

Fuel for Big Brains
Another body of workers who are advocates of a more aquatic past than the orthodox view are biochemists and dieticians who are interested in the fact that humans require a set of chemicals called essential fatty acids (EFAs) in particular for brain growth.
These essential fatty acids can be synthesised in the body from chemicals which are generally available in many terrestrial foods however aquatic foods such as fish, molluscs and others in the aglal food chain are particularly rich in two EFAs: DHA and AA that seem to be particularly important in the growth and health of the central nervous system as well as several other key roles in the body.
