7 ~ The End of Aquafaria

Stories of our ancestors between 200,000 and 100,000 years ago.

Aquafaria, a place the size of England in East Africa where the humans in The River ApesÒ evolved, was a vision of paradise: A beautiful, bay with hundreds of small tropical islands just off the coast of a rich and green river delta.

This 7th story describes how the disaster of 200,000 years ago right on this spot almost destroyed the whole species.  Their world was plunged into total darkness for many weeks and when the light finally did return it revealed only a terrible, desolate place covered with volcanic ash.

The few survivors drew on their inner strength and overcame the situation. Eventually they started to thrive once more. However, the earthquake had now caused their sea to be cut off from the world's oceans and it simply began to evaporate away.

The End of Aquafaria meant the end for the Aquafarian people. As the sea disappeared a drama of biblical proportions unfolded, leading to a great exodus where the people finally turned their back on their aquatic past.
