8 ~ How We Conquered The World
Stories of our ancestors between 100,000 and 10,000 years ago.
Aquafaria, the ancestral home of the River
Apes, had finally dried up and, facing famine, their human descendants were
forced to turn their backs on their aquatic past.
Timidly, tribes spread out in all directions from Aquafaria. Some followed the course of the River Awash up stream to the Ethiopian highlands where they discovered the source of another river - The Blue Nile. Some travelled south-west along the Great Rift Valley whilst others found the coast and migrated along it. Some people eventually found their way out of Africa and began to spread out along rivers and coastlines across the face of the world. As the populations expanded they encountered other strange-looking people - the Firemakers and, in colder parts of the World, fierce hairy ape-men - the yetties. This eighth River Ape story tells the tale of the ancestors of us all. How their tribes split and new languages, religions and customs emerged as they exploded out of Aquafaria to conquer the planet. |
